Fraction War, in pairs: Lachlan, Logan, Tahlia, Grace, Jack, Tom, Ellenor, Brock. Molly Both players flip two cards each to make a fraction (using pencil as vinculum). Players then work together to see who has the larger fraction, using strategies from the anchor chart from today's lesson. Both players then record the two fractions in their Maths book (eg: ¾ > ½). The player with the larger fraction wins a point. Group 3: Farhana, Grady, Maddie, Ryan, Kirsten: Spend 10 minutes playing Fraction Wars, then continue with your work on four operations with fractions. |

Whole class: 1692 “Fraction of a Whole Number,”
Model how to play "First to 50":
Player one turns over a card and calculates the problem (solving in Maths book). If their partner is confident that their answer is correct, player one gets to take that many counters, then it is player two’s turn. There are some “put back” cards - if flipped the player must return those counters rather than take them. Continue until the first player reaches 50.
