Homework
During Term 4 students have a checklist for the entire term where they tick each component of their homework each week, and also record their results from their Maths Online Task (completed at home), Times Tables Challenge (completed at school each Friday) and their Spelling Test (completed at school each Friday).
This checklist needs to be signed by an adult at home each week, and shown to Miss Brown each Friday to sign, after completing spelling tests and finding new words.

Homework Expectations:
In Grade 5/6 homework is assigned each Friday and is due back the following Thursday. Each week homework consists of:
1. Reading. 20 minutes of reading, five days a week. This should be recorded in the student diary and signed by an adult.
See some links to recommended reading below if you are stuck for ideas!
2. Spelling. Students have 10 individual spelling words to learn each week. They need to practise them in at least 3 different ways on three different days. A matrix of ideas for how to practise spelling words can be found at the bottom of this page. Spelling words will be tested each Friday. Several short sessions of practising spelling words across the week is the way to go!
3. Maths: Maths Online tasks are set each Friday afternoon for students to complete at home. These are directly related to what the student has been working on at school, and is not new learning. If at any time the Maths is a little challenging, please don't worry! I encourage all students to see me for help at any time - the earlier the better. 😊
Unless they are confident and automatic at all times tables up to 12 x 12, all students have selected a times table that they are currently working on. Students should be practising their times table regularly in a variety of ways - aim for 3 different ways on 3 different days is. Check out all the games, songs and resources on the Times Tables Page.
